The British Academy and The Academy Of Medical Science in the United Kingdom supports international academic collaboration and research through initiatives such as international writing workshops and research grants. These programmes provide opportunities for researchers and academics to develop their research, exchange knowledge, and strengthen international scholarly networks.

ODA Research Management Capacity Strengthening 2026 Information
PROGRAM OFFERED
- The British Academy : The British Academy is inviting proposals which seek to embed and enhance working practices and systems within and between institutions to support equitable partnerships in international research through support for skills collaboration between research offices and research management functions.
- The Academy Of Medical Science : The Academy of Medical Science has just launched their Networking Grants with eligible themes of Artificial intelligence and health, Climate and health and Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and health systems resilience.
ELIGIBILITY
(International Writing Workshops)
- Lead applicants must hold a postdoctoral qualification or equivalent research experience and an established position at an eligible university or research institute in the UK or an eligible partner country.
- Each project must include researchers from both the UK and an eligible partner country, depending on the Principal Investigator’s location.
- Proposals must meet Official Development Assistance (ODA) eligibility criteria, directly addressing development challenges in eligible countries.
- Workshops must take place in Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Ghana, the Philippines, Vietnam, or a Least Developed Country.
(ODA Research Management Capacity Strengthening 2026)
- Applicants must be based in a research office or research management function, such as HR, finance, or legal operations, at an eligible university or research institute in the UK or an eligible partner country.
- Projects must involve collaboration between UK institutions and institutions in Brazil, South Africa, Kenya, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Ghana, the Philippines, Vietnam, or a Least Developed Country.
- Each proposal must include at least one Co-Applicant from the UK and one from an eligible partner country, with the required locations depending on the Lead applicant’s base.
- The Lead’s position must remain valid for the entire grant period, and the award must be hosted by an institution recognised by the British Academy.
- Eligible host institutions include recognised higher education institutions, research institutes, approved independent research organisations, public sector research organisations, and eligible research organisations in partner countries.

- Applications must be submitted online via the British Academy’s Flexi-Grant® Grant Management System.
- Application deadline: Wednesday, 2 December 2026, at 17:00 UK time.
(ODA Research Management Capacity Strengthening 2026)
