The UNESCO-Al Fozan International Prize for the promotion of young scientists in STEM aims to enhance research, education, and international collaboration in STEM fields to address global challenges aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Prize recognizes young scientists whose work contributes to global socio-economic progress and encourages greater interest in science, particularly among women and girls, to foster gender equality and promote scientific careers.
We are pleased to inform you that the application for UNESCO-Al-Fozan International Prize-Second Edition is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.
ABOUT THIS PROGRAM
The prize, valued at $250,000 USD, is awarded every two years to five winners, representing UNESCO’s five geographic regions:
- Europe and North America
- Arab States
- Africa
- Asia and the Pacific
- Latin America and the Caribbean
- Each winner receives $50,000 USD.
ELIGIBILITY
- Undergraduate students (S1) or Graduate students (S2/S3)
- Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Be proficient in English

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
- Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than 1 April 2025 for internal review.
- OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to UNESCO-Al-Fozan and you may proceed to the online application no later than 15 April 2025.
- The FINAL decision is from UNESCO-Al-Fozan.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
- In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
