Warm greetings from Chiba University!
Chiba University was founded in 1949, unifying several regional former national colleges and schools such as Chiba Medical College and Chiba Normal School. Its fundamental mission since then has been, as encapsulated by the inscription on the University Bell, ad altiora semper (always toward the higher), to equip students with the ability to make mature and informed judgments while nurturing and guiding their creativity. Pursuing these goals of excellence has resulted in Chiba University becoming one of the leading academic research centers in Japan.
We are pleased to inform you that the application for J-PAC Fall 2023 and Spring 2024 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.
J-PAC is an exchange program for undergraduate students whose academic interest is in the area of Japanese culture and society. It has two undergraduate programs; International Liberal Arts Program and the Japanese Studies Program. For more information, kindly check this links below:

Study period
- Full academic year: October to August next year
- Fall semester only: October to February next year
- Spring semester only: April to August
Eligibility
- 3rd to 6th-semester undergraduate students (S1)
- Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
Language requirement
Either 1 or 2 is required for J-PAC. Please refer to the J-PAC Outline.
- Sufficient level of English (CEFR B2 or higher) + Japanese language learning experience at least for 50 hours
- Sufficient level of Japanese (JLPT N2 or higher)

- Copy of Certificate of Japanese Language Proficiency
- Colored Copy of Passport
- 3 Photos with Size 3cm×4cm (white background color, taken within the past three months)
- English Language Proficiency (CEFR B2 or higher)
Application Procedure
- Submit the aforementioned documents through the link: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication for internal review no more than 25 February 2023 for Fall Semester 2023 or 25 August 2023 for Spring Semester 2024.
- OIA staff will evaluate your application.
- Once you are selected as Nominated Student, OIA will send your official nomination to Chiba University for host-university selection.
