Warm greetings from Saitama University, Japan!

Saitama is known for its well-developed industries and cultures, well-balanced urban and natural environment, and convenience. The city of Saitama is the place where the Japanese have had a close relationship with foreigners for a long time and respect and embrace people from other areas. Saitama University has long been established as a respected national university within Japan. As part of its global initiative, the University conveys outstanding results born from its multifarious research projects to scholars across the world.

We are pleased to inform you that the application for the Saitama University Summer Program 2023 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

Guidebook

Academic Information

  • June 10 (Sat) – July 7 (Fri), 2023 (4-week program)
  • All students must stay for the whole duration.
  • June 10 (Sat) Orientation & Science Workshop
  • June 11 (Sun) Excursion to Shimizu Park for BBQ
  • Each course is worth either 1 credit for 12 hours or 2 credits for 24 hours.
  • All students are required to take a minimum of 2 courses from the following course list:
  1. Contemporary Art and Design in Asia and Japan (2 credits)
  2. Animation Studies (2 credits)
  3. Japanese Language class for absolute Beginners (the first half of A1 of CEFR) / for Beginners(A1 of CEFR) (1 credit) *CEFR: Common European Framework of Reference for Languages④ To Be Decided (2 credits)
  4. To Be Decided (1 credit)

 

Eligibility

  • 3rd to 6th-semester undergraduate students (S1)
  • 3rd to 4th-semester graduate students (S2/S3)
  • Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program

Required Documents

  1. Color photo (jpg. format) suitable for a student ID card.
  2. Passport copy
  3. Student ID card copy
  4. An official transcript from the one’s home institution
  5. (Non-native speakers of English) An official English test score

Application Procedure

  1. Submit the aforementioned documents to the Saitama University directly via this link
  2. The FINAL decision from the Saitama University.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
  • Application of outgoing mobility for fall/odd semester in AY 2022/2023 will be processed but the implementation/execution will carefully consider the latest development of COVID-19 and government’s regulation.
