Greetings from South Korea!

The May 18th Institute at Chonnam National University (CNU) invites international students and global NGO activists to apply for the Global NGO Master’s Program (GNMP). Launched as an educational platform for those passionate about human rights, democracy, and peace, this program aims to train future leaders in social enterprises, international relations, and advocacy.

We are pleased to inform you that the application for the GNMP Full Scholarship at Chonnam National University is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada alumni.

SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS

  • Round-trip international airfare between your home country and Korea.
  • Monthly stipend of 500,000 KRW.
  • Full tuition fees for the Master’s program.
  • Accommodation for the full duration of your stay in Korea.
  • ⚠️ FINANCIAL NOTICE: CNU requires proof of 16,000,000 KRW in annual funding for visa/admission purposes. Because the GNMP scholarship provides 15,000,000 KRW annually, students must prove they have the remaining 1,000,000 KRW in their personal bank account.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Hold a BA degree (graduated no later than July 31, 2025).
  • Demonstrate a strong interest in human rights, democracy, and peace.
  • Proof of high English language proficiency (Official TOEIC, TOEFL, or IELTS).
  • Legally and physically able to study for two years in Korea.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
The application is a strict two-step process:

Step 1: Apply to the May 18th Institute (Document Screening & Interview)

  • Submit the completed GNMP Application Form, passport copy, CV, diploma/transcripts, TB test report, recommendation letters, English certificate, and optional human rights activity certificates via email to cnu518@hanmail.net.
  • First Semester Intake Deadline: 15 April
  • Second Semester Intake Deadline: 15 September

Step 2: Apply to the University (For Step 1 Passers Only)

  • Applicants who pass the Institute’s screening must then submit the official online university application.
  • First Semester Intake Deadline: Late April
  • Second Semester Intake Deadline: Late September

The FINAL decision is from Chonnam National University.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
