We are pleased to inform you that the application for University of Tokyo Global Unit Courses (UTokyo GUC) 2026 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

PROGRAM INFORMATION

  • Partner Institution Discount: A 20% discount is available for students from UTokyo partner institutions, allowing them to participate at nearly the same price as last year.
  • Featured Course: “Museums in Contemporary Japan” examines museums in Tokyo as cultural institutions through field-based learning.
  • Continuing 2-Unit Courses: Popular 2-unit courses, including the AI-related course, will continue in 2026, offering academic flexibility.
  • New Design-Focused 2-Unit Courses: Building on last year’s offerings, the same faculty members will offer “Introduction to Changemaking” and “Design for Social Impact.”
  • New Course Offerings: New courses will cover themes such as the environment, political economy, and contemporary Japanese society.
  • Continuing Courses: Well-received courses from previous years will continue with activities such as fieldwork, workshops, projects, and discussions.
Introducing Newly Launched GUC Programs Starting from 2026:
In addition to on-campus courses, starting in 2026, UTokyo GUC is expanding learning opportunities beyond campus with new experiential programs. Explore the links below for more details. For any inquiries, please contact the respective program directly.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Applicants must be full-time undergraduate or graduate either at the time of application or during the program period.
  2. While a certificate of English proficiency is not required, students must possess sufficient language proficiency to complete university-level coursework.
    The minimum required proficiency is TOEFL iBT 90 or IELTS 6.5.

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  1. Copy of Passport
  2. Color ID Photo
  3. Copy of Student ID
  4. Official Transcript in English
  5. A Statement of Purpose (maximum 300 words)
  6. For Paying the Application Fee: Credit Card

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Apply directly to University of Tokyo. Kindly refer to the website.
  2. The deadline is 16:00 JST on Monday, March 16th.
  3. The FINAL decision is from University of Tokyo .

 

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
