Greetings from Japan!

Nestled in the historic city of Kyoto, Doshisha University stands as a testament to Japan’s rich educational legacy and commitment to fostering global citizens. Established in 1875 by Joseph Hardy Neesima, a visionary educator and theologian, the university has since grown exponentially, both in terms of its academic reputation and its influence in shaping societal norms and values.

We are pleased to inform you that the application for Doshisha University Exchange Program Spring 2026 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

 

Program Information

Application Guidelines

 

ELIGIBILITY

  1. Undergraduate students (S1) or Graduate students (S2/S3)
  2. Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
  3. Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  4. Be proficient in English and/or Japanese

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  1. Official Academic Transcript
  2. English Language Proficiency 
  3. Japanese Language Proficiency (Mandatory for Nichibun Courses Applicants)
  4. Letter of Enrollment from Faculty
  5. Letter of Nomination from Faculty (addressed to the Head of Office of International Affairs UGM)
  6. Letter of Recommendation from the Academic Advisor
  7. Curriculum Vitae
  8. Motivation Letter
  9. Colored Copy of Passport
  10. Confirmation Letter of Participation (download) 
  11. Passport Size Photo 
  12. Health Certificate
  13. Certificate of Eligibility
  14. Statement of Expenses Payment
  15. Certificate of Scholarship/Student Loan
  16. Accommodation Application Form
  17. JASSO Scholarship Application Form (If applicable)

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than 06 September 2025 for internal review.
  2. OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Doshisha University  and you may proceed to the online application no later than 24 October 2025.
  3. The FINAL decision is from Doshisha University.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
