Greetings from Kansai University, Japan!  

Kansai University, located in Osaka, Japan, is a prestigious institution known for its commitment to academic excellence and innovation. Established in 1886, it has a rich history of providing quality education across various disciplines, including humanities, sciences, and engineering. The university is characterized by its vibrant campus life, diverse student body, and emphasis on global perspectives. We are pleased to inform you that the application for Kansai University Summer Short Term Program 2025 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

 

INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROGRAM 

Summer School 2025 
The English- mediated course: Learning Osaka, the Mercantile Capital of Japan is taught in English.  The course provides students with the opportunity to learn about the history and culture of Osaka in depth through lectures and hands-on experience.  Students will also gain understanding of the “entrepreneurial spirit” by exploring the history and current situation of companies with roots in Osaka.  Introductory Japanese course is also available as an option for students who wish to study Japanese language.
 Course Language:English 
Schedule :
-Unit 1 : Tuesday, July 1, 2025 – Wednesday, July 16, 2025 (2-week)
-Unit 2 : Thursday, July 17, 2025 – Friday, August 1, 2025 (2-week)
-Unit 3 : Tuesday, July 1, 2025 – Friday, August 1, 2025 (4-week)
Application period:
Friday, 14 March 2025 – Friday, 11 April 2025  
*Application will be closed upon reaching its capacity
* Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and will close once capacity is reached.

NOTES: Application will open on Friday, 14 March 2025. 
Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Course (IJLC)  
Course content:
Japanese language classes, Japanese culture experience, field trip and interaction with Kansai University students.
Course feature:
Kansai University Students as conversation partners will support the conversation and discussion in classes. There are many opportunities to talk with Kansai University students, and a variety of classes are offered, including Japanese for daily situations, Japanese Studies, Traditional Japanese Culture, Academic Japanese, and more.
Course language:Japanese 
Schedule
-Summer Session 1: June 3, 2025 (Tuesday) – June 26, 2025 (Thursday) (24 days)
-Summer Session 2: July 1, 2025 (Tuesday) – July 24, 2025 (Thursday) (24 days)
Application Period
  • Summer Session 1: Until 25 March 2025 (Tuesday) (Strictly by 23:59 JST)
  • Summer Session 2: Until 9 April 2025 (Wednesday) (Strictly by 23:59 JST)
Capacity: The program will be limited to 45 participants in principle.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Apply directly to Kansai University
  2. Final decision is from Kansai University

 

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
