We are pleased to inform you that the application for Wakayama University Japanese Studies MEXT Scholarship Program 2024 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.
PROGRAM INFORMATION
- MEXT will finalize the Japanese Studies Scholarship Students. As a scholar, he/she will be provided 117,000 yen per month as an allowance. (This might be subject to change.)
- The student has to be registered at his/her home university as an undergraduate student until he/she returns home university after completing the Japanese Studies Program. That means the student must not graduate from his/her home university while he/she studies at Wakayama University as a Japanese Studies Scholarship Student.
- Even if the student is recommended to MEXT by Wakayama University he/she might not be selected/accepted by MEXT.
- The student who has not studied at his/her home university for more than one year, as of April 2024,will not be eligible in principle.
- Minimum Japanese Language Proficiency Test requirement: JLPT N2 or/and J-Test Pre Level B2(700) or higher.
ELIGIBILITY
- Undergraduate students (S1) or Graduate students (S2/S3) who learns Japanese language and culture.
- Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
- Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Be proficient in English and/or Japanese

- Letter of Recommendation from the Academic Advisor

- Passport Size Photo
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
- Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than 13 March 2024 for internal review.
- OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Wakayama University and you may proceed to the online application.
- The FINAL decision is from Wakayama University.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
- In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id
