INTRODUCTION

IISMA is a Government of Indonesia scholarship scheme to fund Indonesian students on mobility programs to overseas universities.  IISMA is designed to accommodate undergraduate and vocational students to spend one semester (approximately 16 weeks) at university to study, experience host country culture, and do practical assignments to hone their skills. This program is centrally managed by the Directorate General of Higher Education, Kemdikbudristek (Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology or MoECRT) funded by the Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan/Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP). Application of participation is open for undergraduate and vocational students from all Indonesian higher education institutions.

The objective of this program is to facilitate Indonesian students to gain knowledge and skills as well as to exchange ideas and culture, and build networks with their peers, academics, and international community overseas.

ELIGIBILITY

  1. an active undergraduate or vocational student registered at the Higher Education Database (Pangkalan Data Pendidikan Tinggi – PDDIKTI) who are
    1. currently in the 4th or 6th semester of recognized universities in Indonesia (Perguruan Tinggi Dalam Negeri – PTDN) under The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology; or
    2. Diploma 3 students who are currently in the 4th semester and Diploma 4 students who are currently in the 4th or 6th semester of the recognized universities with vocational programs in Indonesia (Perguruan Tinggi Penyelenggara Pendidikan Vokasi – PTPPV) under The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology;
  2. an Indonesian citizen (WNI) currently residing in Indonesia and does not have dual citizenship;
  3. maximum 24 years old by July 1, 2024; 
  4. have a cumulative GPA of minimum 3.0 (out of 4.0) proven by the latest academic transcript;
  5. nominated by Head of Study Program/Head of Department of home university (PTDN or PTPPV);
  6. never have taken college leave during study;
  7. not participate in other Kampus Merdeka flagship programs while taking part in IISMA Program;
  8. not take any classes at home university during IISMA program;
  9. not have participated in more than one (1) Kampus Merdeka Flagship Program prior to the IISMA Program;
  10. submit valid English proficiency certificate with the following minimum scores:*
    a. Undergraduate students:
    TOEFL iBT – 78, IELTS – 6.0, or Duolingo English Test – 100,
    b. Vocational students:
    TOEFL iBT – 60, IELTS – 6.0, Duolingo English Test – 95, or TOEIC Listening and Reading Test – 605,
    to IISMA’s official institutional code of respective English test*; (check here) 
  11. never have violated the rules, norms, and/or laws applied in Indonesia;
  12. adhere to the rules and regulations while participating in the IISMA program. 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  1. Letter of Nomination from Faculty to Rector UGM
  2. Letter of Enrollment from Faculty
  3. Curriculum Vitae
  4. Motivation Letter and Study Plan 
  5. Official Academic Transcript (in English) 
  6. English language proficiency certificate (iBT, IELTS, Duolingo, TOEIC) – follow IISMA regulation for English Proficiency Test (EPT) 
  7. Letter of Statement signed and stamped (bermaterai) by Applicant and Parents/Guardians with template IISMA attached (Undergraduate | Vocational)
  8. Letter of Statement signed and stamped (bermaterai) by the Head of Study Program or Department with template IISMA attached (Undergraduate | Vocational)
  9. Letter of Statement as a Scholarship Recipient from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of Republic of Indonesia (click here) *only submit this document if you are a recipient
  10. Colored Scan Copy of Passport (UGM requirements, if you do not have yet or in process of issuance, please state in the additional note)
  11. Colored Scan Copy of Birth Certificate and Identity card (KTP)

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

  1. Submit the aforementioned required documents combined in one PDF file to the Office of International Affairs by the deadline 14 February 2024 through the online submission link: ugm.id/ApplyIISMA2024 
  2. OIA will evaluate your application and upon selection review your documents.
  3. Students will proceed with the online application through IISMA Application Portal which will be opened by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) from 23 January – 19 February 2024.
  4. Upon completion of the application submission at OIA UGM, we will send the Recommendation and Nomination Letter from UGM to IISMA.
  5. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) will then proceed with the selection of students.
  6. The FINAL decision of acceptance will be from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbudristek).

IMPORTANT NOTES

  1. List of programs (participating university partners and courses offered) are announced through IISMA Website. 
  2. As this scholarship is highly competitive, applicants are strongly suggested to strictly follow the basic requirements of the eligibility AND requirements of the host university.
  3. Any changes and updated information throughout the opening of the application will be notified to the webpage of OIA. Final reference of information will be from the IISMA Website.
  4. For further consultation, students are open to join Telegram Group IISMA UGM.
