To commemorate the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, the Japan Foundation and the Kamenori Foundation, in cooperation with the ASEAN University Network, is proud to announce the organization of the ASEAN-Japan Youth Forum: Take Action for Social Change (TASC) 2023 to deepen mutual understanding among young people in ASEAN countries and Japan.

This Project provides an opportunity for international exchange and idea sharing with young people of the same generation from diverse backgrounds, targeting university undergraduates who wish to take concrete actions to solve social issues under the common interest of co-creating a better world in 2050. Through the experience of meeting, studying together and working collaboratively toward the same goal with other people who have diverse values and different cultural backgrounds, participants can expand perspectives, increase acceptance and understanding of different cultural environments and acquire the desire and skills to take action leading to social change. Thus, the theme of the event is set to be “Envisioning a better world in 2050”.

TASC provides a unique opportunity for students to build long lasting human connections and participants are expected to play an active role in the future as global leaders who can help bring about meaningful social change. Thus, the Program consists of varying dynamic activities both online and onsite that require the attendance of students extending from July to November. The intensive series include the Online Program, ASEAN Field Trip, Online Follow-up, and finally Visits and a Symposium in Japan! The entire programme will be held in English and participants should ensure their complete availability and proficiency to efficiently engage in all the activities in the programme. Please note that the cost of international travel, meals, accommodation, and transportation fee shall be borne by the organizer.

We are pleased to inform you that the application for ASEAN-Japan Youth Forum: Take Action for Social Change (TASC) 2023 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students from 2 May to 4 June 2023.
