Warm greetings from Kanazawa University in Japan!

 

Kanazawa University is a leading university on the Sea of Japan coast. The University has significantly contributed to Japanese higher education and academic research since it was founded in 1949. One of the University’s charms lies in studying in Kanazawa, a city rich in history and traditional culture. Kanazawa has cultivated a respected intellectual profile since the time of the Kaga fiefdom (1598 – 1867). Lively interaction among students, communication with staff, and the local community make it the perfect venue for personal growth and development.

 

We are pleased to inform you that the application for Kanazawa Exchange Programs (KUEP) 2022-2023 is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students. There is two types of this exchange program:

 

  1. Offline Program

October 2022- March 2023 or October 2022 – September 2023 (Arrival date for the last week of September.) 

  1. Online Program 

October 2022- March 2023 (Q3, Q4) or October 2022 – December 2022 (Q3)

 

Eligibility

  1. Undergraduate (S1) or graduate (S2/S3) students.
  2. Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program. 
  3. Enrolled as a third-year student or more for the applicants of College of Science and Engineering or College of Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Health Sciences 
  4. Be proficient in Japanese/English. Applicants wishing to take courses given in Japanese must have a level of skill in the Japanese language equal to or higher than level N2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test. Those wishing to take courses given in English must have a level of skill in the English language higher than TOEIC Listening & Reading Test 700, TOEFL-iBT 72, TOEFL-PBT 527, IELTS 5.5., or Cambridge English 160.

  2. Motivation Letter
  3. Official Academic Transcript record (issued in English)
  4. Study Plan
  5. A recommendation letter from an academic supervisor
  6. Letter of Enrollment from Faculty
  7. Letter of Nomination from Faculty (addressed to the Head of Office of International Affairs UGM)
  8. Japan or English Proficiency Certificate
  9. Copy of passport photo identification page
  10. Passport picture
  11. Medical Report
  12. Agreement for Defraying Expenses with a bank statement (except for JASSO scholarship candidates)
  13. All the document listed as required on the Online Application page
  14. Confirmation Letter of Participation (download)

Required documents for the Human and Social Science graduate students and all Science and Engineering Sciences/Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Health Sciences/Philosophy in Interdisciplinary Sciences applicants:

  1.  Email of accepted agreement from desired supervisor

Required documents for the Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Health Sciences:

  1. Certificate of Health
  2. Immunization Record
  3. Pledge
  4. Certificate that pre-clinical education has been completed or will be completed
  5. Antibody test result for Hepatitis B/C virus, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella

 

Application Procedures

  1. Submit the aforementioned documents to the Office of International Affairs, UGM for internal review through the link: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than February 14th, 2022.
  2. OIA staff will evaluate your application.
  3. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will send your nomination to Kanazawa University for host-university selection and you may proceed to the Online Application. The Online Application deadlines are the following:
  • February 28th, 2022: for the Offline Program
  • June 30th, 2022: for the Online Program
  1. THE FINAL decision from Kanazawa University.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id).
