Greetings from Austria!

The Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalization (OeAD) is the country’s education and internationalization agency. With its future-oriented programs, the OeAD has advised, supported, and connected people and institutions in education, science, research, and culture for the past 60 years.

As an Austrian government organization, the OeAD contributes to inclusive, equal, and high-quality education. The OeAD’s areas of work are Austria, Europe, and priority countries throughout the world. Their activities are funded by the Republic of Austria, in particular by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research (BMBWF), the Austrian Federal Chancellery (BKA), the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and the European Commission.

Below you will find information on the Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Submit Education and Research (OeAD) scholarship programs for prospective students in Austria for the academic year 2022/23.

For those interested, you can apply for a variety of scholarship and funding programs run by the OeAD. Applicants from all across the world can apply to programs like:

  • Franz Werfel grant
  • Richard Plaschka grant

Ernst Mach-worldwide

The Ernst Mach Grant worldwide is intended for young researchers and university lecturers of all disciplines who are studying or pursuing research outside Austria.

Target group: Postgraduates, Postdocs

Countries of origin: all

Duration: 1 to 9 months

Funding organisation: OeAD-GmbH on behalf and financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research

Closing date for applications: February 1st

 

Franz Werfel grant

The Franz Werfel Grant is intended for young university lecturers of German language and literature studies with a special focus on Austrian literature. Those who have gone at least 12 scholarship months can apply for the follow-up support programme.

Target group: postgraduates, postdocs, researchers

Countries of origin: all

Duration: 4 to 9 months

Closing date for applications: March 1st, September 15th

 

Richard Plaschka Grant

The Plaschka PostDoc scholarship programme is aimed at researchers in the field of Austrian history.

Target group: postdocs, researchers

Countries of origin: all

Duration: 4 to 12 months (extension to 18 months is possible in certain cases)

Closing date for applications: March 1st, September 15th
