[Scholarship] Hongkong PhD Fellowship Scheme

Established by the Research Grants Council (RGC) of Hong Kong in 2009, the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) aims at attracting the best and brightest students in the world to pursue their PhD studies in Hong Kong’s universities.

The fellowship provides a monthly stipend of HK$26,900 (approx. US$3,400) and a conference and research-related travel allowance of HK$13,500 (approx. US$1,730) per year for a period of three years.  300 fellowships will be awarded for PhD studies commencing in the 2022/23 academic year.

Eligibility 

  1. Candidates who are seeking admission as new full time PhD students in the following eight universities, irrespective of their country of origin, prior work experience and ethnic background, should be eligible to apply.
  2. Applicants should demonstrate outstanding qualities of academic performance, research ability / potential, communication and interpersonal skills, and leadership abilities.

Application Procedure

  1. Eligible candidates should make their initial application to the RGC through the online system at this link to obtain an HKPFS Reference Number before submitting full applications to their selected universities.
  2. The Initial Application, excluding these Guidance Note, is composed of the following sections:
  • Personal Particulars
  • Choice of University(ies) and Programme(s) for PhD Studies
  • Authorization and Declaration
  • Source of Information
  1. The deadline for the submission of initial application for the HKPFS is 1 December 2021 at 12:00 noon Hong Kong time. Late submissions will not be considered.
  2. If you need a nomination letter from Universitas Gadjah Mada, please submit your document through email scholarship@ugm.ac.id no later than November 15th, 2021.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

The implementation/execution of this program will be carefully reconsidered depends on the latest development of COVID-19 and the government’s regulation
