[South Korea] Jeonbuk National University – Fall 2021 Exchange Program

Warm greetings from Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), Republic of Korea! 

Jeonbuk National University (JBNU; 전북대학교; 全北大學校; Jeonbuk Daehakgyo) formerly called Chonbuk National University (CBNU) is located in the historical city of Jeonju, Republic of Korea. It was founded in 1947 by the provincial fund within the framework of the Korean national university system, following the liberation of the country. 

JBNU has grown to 17 colleges (including Faculty of Public Policy and Jimmy Carter School of International Studies) and 14 graduate schools (one general, nine specialized and four professional schools). For approximately 32,000 students, and 2,400 full-time and part-time professors (as of October 2016), Jeonbuk National University provides high-quality educational, research and support facilities, cooperating with various institutions worldwide. 

We are pleased to invite students from Universitas Gadjah Mada for the Fall 2021 Exchange Program in Jeonbuk National University (JBNU), Republic of Korea. In this regard, please, find the following documents attached as the guideline. 

Scholarship Benefits (support concept) 

  • University tuition is exempted.
  • Based on the agreement with UGM, the dormitory fee is exempted, and daily meals provided on weekdays.
  • Students must prepare their own international travel expenses (includes visas and other preparation).

The issuance of an admission letter and forwarding data 10th May 2021 ~ 11th June 2021
Entry 26th July 2021 ~ 2nd August 2021
Quarantine 14 days from the date of entry
Orientation 18th August 2021 (scheduled)
Semester begins 1st September 2021

 

Eligibility

  1. 3rd to 6th-semester undergraduate students (S1) 
  2. Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
  3. Be proficient in English, proven by English Proficiency Certificate
  4. Minimum GPA of  3.2 on a 4.0 scale

Required Documents 

  1. Application form for exchange student (to be filled in upon nomination from UGM)
  2. Motivation Letter & Study Plan (Purpose of Study)
  3. Official Transcript 
  4. Curriculum Vitae 
  5. Certificate of English Proficiency (Min. Score of TOEFL – ITP=530, iBT 80 or IELTS 6.0)
  6. Letter of Nomination from Faculty (*addressed to Head of Office of International Affairs)
  7. Letter of Enrollment from Faculty 
  8. Letter of Recommendation/Reference from Academic Advisor 
  9. Colored Copy of Passport 
  10. Passport-size Photos (3.5 x 4.5 cm, white background color, taken within the past three months) 

 

Application Procedure

  1. Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form : http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later April 25th, 2021 for internal review.
  2. OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Jeonbuk National University and you may proceed to the online application.
  3. The FINAL decision from Jeonbuk National University.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep a copy of the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
  • Application of outgoing mobility for fall/odd semester in AY 2021/2022 will be processed but the implementation/execution will carefully consider the latest development of COVID-19 and government’s regulation.
