Greetings from the University Malaya, Malaysia!

The University Malaya, or UM, Malaysia’s oldest university, is situated on a 900-acre campus in the southwest of Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia. The varsity is proud to claim the title of the country’s premier university and the origins of the university can be traced back to 1905 with the founding of King Edward VII College of Medicine and its subsequent merger in 1949 with Raffles College (founded 1929) in Singapore to form the national university of the Federation of Malaya under the name of University of Malaya.

In 1954, the government put forward a proposal that the Universiti Malaya should rightly have two branches, one in Singapore and another in Kuala Lumpur. Through an act of parliament in 1961, the University of Malaya as we know it today in Kuala Lumpur was established on 1 January 1962 as the first university in this country.

We are pleased to inform you that the Application for University of Malaya Faculty Series 2021 (Virtual Exchange Program) at the Universiti Malaya is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

Eligibility

  1. 3rd to 6th-semester undergraduate students (S1) & graduate students (S2)
  2. Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
  3. Be proficient in English. No certificate needed.

  2. Motivation Letter
  3. Study Plan
  4. A recommendation letter from an academic supervisor
  5. Letter of Enrollment from Faculty
  6. Letter of Nomination from Faculty (addressed to the Head of Office of International Affairs UGM)
  7. An Official Academic Transcript Record (in English)
  8. Passport-size photograph
  9. Colour copy of your passport (front page with ID)
  10. English Language Proficiency (referring to this page)
  11. Scholarship/Sponsorship Letter (if applicable)
  12. Letter of Nomination from Office of International Affairs UGM
  13. Confirmation Letter of Participation (download)

Application Procedure

  1. Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form:http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than March 8th, 2021 for internal review.
  2. OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to the University of Malaya and you may proceed to the online application.
  3. The FINAL decision from the University of Malaya

 

IMPORTANT NOTES:

 

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
  • Application of outgoing mobility for spring/even semester in AY 2020/2021 will be processed but the implementation/execution will carefully consider the latest development of COVID-19 and government’s regulation.
