Kyushu University, abbreviated to Kyudai is a Japanese national university located in Fukuoka, in the island of Kyushu. It was the 4th Imperial Universities in Japan, ranked as 4th in 2020 Times Higher Education Japan University Rankings, and selected as a Top Type university of Top Global University Project by the Japanese government.
Kyushu University accepts students from universities with which we have university-wide exchange agreements (partner universities) via three main programs.

This program is for undergraduate students majoring in Japanese studies at their home institution. Courses are taught in Japanese.

Programs in Each Undergraduate and Graduate School | Students may take courses offered by Kyushu University’s undergraduate and graduate schools. Graduate students who wish to do research may request research supervision.
Most of the subjects are taught in Japanese, so students will be required to have a Japanese language proficiency of Level 1 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test or the equivalent level. Some undergraduate and graduate schools offer courses taught in English. If the school of your choice offers enough courses taught in English, we will accept students whose English language proficiency is demonstrated by a TOEFL score of at least iBT 79 or IELTS 6.0.Classes Conducted in English for Exchange Students |
There are few courses not open for exchange student this period including :
- Practical courses such as Medicine, Pharmacy, Dental Sciences are not open to
exchange students.
- Courses offered by Kyushu University Business School (QBS) are open only to exchange students who are enrolled in QBS.

Notes from Kyushu University
From this semester, Fall 2021-22 (Oct.2021- Mar. 2022), a student who defer from
the previous semesters must re-submit a whole application material. Previously
submitted recommendation letters are acceptable. However, please submit the
most recent academic transcript and revised study/research plan.
Eligibility
- Undergraduate Students (S1) & Graduate Students (S2)
- Applicants must have studied at least 1 year in the degree program of home university
- Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
- Required a Japanese language proficiency of Level 1 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test or the equivalent level (For courses taught in Japanese)
- Be proficient in English. Non-native English speakers must have a score of at least TOEFL iBT 79, IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, Cambridge English: First (FCE) Grade B, CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages): average grade of B2, DAAD Scholarships: Qualified Applicant (B2 or equivalent) *TOEIC or EF-SET(https://www.efset.org/) Certificate is unacceptable.
- Minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale

Application Procedure
- Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than February 1st, 2021.
- OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Kyushu University and you may proceed to the online application
