Waseda University Graduate School of Asia-Pacific Studies International Relations Program was selected for the International Priority Graduate Program (PGP) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT).
The PGP program, which was created by MEXT to support programs which have international appeal to foreign students, provides priority allocation for government financed foreign students.
Students should apply for the scholarship to GSAPS. GSAPS selects students and recommend them to the Japanese Government. The Program will continue from 2018 to 2020. A detailed outline of the selected program and the application procedure are as follows.

- Applicants’ basic information must be filled out through the Web Registration Form during the Web Registration period (January 22 (Monday) – February 7 (Wednesday)).
- Screening fee must be paid within the designated application period written below.

However, applicants may have the screening fee waived in some cases. For more details, please refer to page 14 – 21 of the 2018 GSAPS Application Guide.

2.Embassy Nomination
An embassy recommended, government sponsored international student is a student who applies to receive a government scholarship through the Japanese embassy or consulate in their home country. Please refer to CIE (Center of International Education, Waseda University) Website.
Students should apply for the scholarship at the Japanese embassy or consulate. The Embassy or consulate select students through document screening, examination and interviews. Please contact the Japanese embassy or consulate for further details.

*There is the government sponsored scholarship for private financed international students who are enrolled as regular degree-seeking students at Waseda University. Also there is government sponsored scholarship for studying-abroad international students who come from universities that currently have an academic exchange agreement with Waseda University. 3.Domestic Selection
This is the government sponsored scholarship for private financed international students who are enrolled as regular degree-seeking students at Waseda University. Please refer to FAQ for MEXT Scholarship. This scholarship will apply only AFTER matriculation.
