The School of Engineering at the University of Tokyo will be holding its 2018 Summer Program, called ESEP (Engineering Summer Education Program) from June 25 to August 10, 2018. This program offers top-class international undergraduate and graduate students a short-term research experience in the basic and translational sciences in our world-leading laboratories.

An outline of the program is as below.
1. Schedules
3-6 weeks between June 25, 2018 and August 10, 2018.
(program start date and duration vary depending on laboratory.)
2. Applicants
Undergraduate applicants must have completed at least two full years of study in a bachelor’s
degree program by the time the program begins.
Applicants must remain enrolled at their current home university until the ESEP program ends.
3. Number of participants
Maximum 20 students
4. Financial support
・Stipend: JPY 80,000
・Accommodation: off-campus accommodation

A copy of the TOEFL Examinee Score Report or a copy of the IELTS Test Report Form (Min. Score of TOEFL – ITP=530, iBT 80 or IELTS 6.0)
Note: If the applicant is a native English speaker, if the applicant’s first language is English, or if the applicant is a university student in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, the applicant is exempt from English test score submission. -
Letter of recommendation
A letter of recommendation must be issued (up to 2 letters may be submitted; 1 letter is required). The recommendation letter must be from a faculty member at the applicant’s current institution who is familiar with the applicant’s educational background, academic performance, and motivation for attending the 2018 Summer Program. -
Copy of passport
If applicant does not have a valid passport, a census register or other available proof of citizenship must be submitted. -
Certificate of Enrollment from faculty

Passport-size photo (4 pieces, 3.5 x 4.5 cm, white background color, taken within the past three months)

Letter of Nomination from faculty (*addressed to Head of Office of International Affairs)
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1) Submit the aforementioned documents to Office of International Affairs, UGM (Bulaksumur F-13) for internal review.
2) OIA staffs will evaluate your application.
3) Once you are selected as Nominated Student, OIA will send your application to University of Tokyo as for host university selection.
4) FINAL decision from University of Tokyo .
Please send all documents above in 2 COPIES to Office of International Affairs, UGM (Bulaksumur Block F-13) no later than January 19, 2018.
