INCiTE Summer School 2026
Universitas Gadjah Mada | Yogyakarta, Indonesia
8–24 July 2026
Circular Economy and Sustainable Entrepreneurship in Intercultural Contexts

In July 2026, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) will welcome students and staff from across the world to Yogyakarta for the INCiTE Summer School — a two-week international programme designed to equip the next generation of leaders with the skills, mindset, and intercultural competence needed to address today’s most pressing global challenges.
Bringing together participants from leading universities and institutions, University of Edinburgh, University of Sydney, University of Toronto, Nanyang Technological University, CUBEL Culture & Education, National University of Management in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Universitas Gadjah Mada, INCiTE offers a unique opportunity to learn beyond borders, collaborate across cultures, and create meaningful solutions with real-world relevance.
For the first time, Indonesia will serve as the host country — with UGM as the home of this vibrant global learning community.
What is INCiTE?
INCiTE (Intercultural Competency, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship) is an intensive, short-term international mobility programme created to prepare students for a rapidly changing, interconnected world.
More than a summer school, INCiTE is a collaborative learning experience where students:
- explore global challenges from multiple cultural perspectives
- strengthen intercultural intelligence and teamwork
- develop entrepreneurial and systems thinking skills
- engage directly with local communities and industries
- co-create practical, sustainable solutions in international teams
Through hours of interactive academic sessions, workshops, site visits, and project work, participants learn not only from lecturers — but from each other.
Since its launch in 2019, INCiTE has connected hundreds of students across Asia-Pacific and Europe. In 2026, this journey continues in Yogyakarta.
Why UGM? Why Yogyakarta?
As one of Indonesia’s leading comprehensive universities, Universitas Gadjah Mada is deeply committed to global engagement, community impact, and interdisciplinary innovation.
Located in Yogyakarta — often called Indonesia’s cultural heart — UGM offers a living laboratory where tradition meets transformation. Students will experience:
- rich cultural heritage and local wisdom
- thriving creative and entrepreneurial ecosystems
- social enterprises and community-based initiatives
- sustainable development practices rooted in local contexts
Learning takes place not only in classrooms, but also in neighborhoods, industries, and cultural spaces across the city. By hosting INCiTE, UGM creates a space where global perspectives and local insights come together to inspire solutions that matter.
What Will Participants Experience?
During the two-week programme, each day blends academic learning with hands-on engagement.
Academic Learning
Students participate in expert-led sessions on:
- Cultural Intelligence

Team-Based Global Challenge Projects

The programme concludes with a Project Fair, where teams present their ideas to peers, staff, and invited stakeholders.
Immersion & Site Visits
Participants will explore Yogyakarta through:
- industry and community visits
