Greetings from Japan!

The Hiroshima Peace Institute for Research and Education (HPI), in collaboration with Hiroshima University and Hiroshima City University, invites international scholars to apply for the HPP Fellowship (Hiroshima Short-Term Residency Program) for the 2026 Academic Year.

This short-term stay program is designed for internationally active early-career researchers dedicated to peace studies and related fields. It aims to foster collaborative research that contributes to the creation and maintenance of world peace and local community development.

We are pleased to inform you that the call for applications for the HPP Fellowship 2026 is now open for eligible Universitas Gadjah Mada researchers and academics.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

  • Mobility Type: Short-term residency research program.
  • Host Institutions: Research will be conducted at either Hiroshima University or Hiroshima City University.
  • Focus Areas: Peace studies, conflict resolution, and related interdisciplinary fields.

 

ELIGIBILITY & BENEFITS

  • Early-career researchers (UGM junior faculty, post-doctoral researchers, or PhD candidates).
  • Must be internationally active in peace studies or related fields.
  • Funding & Duration: Please refer to the official website for specific details regarding stipends, accommodation, and exact residency dates.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applicants must apply directly to the Hiroshima Peace Institute.

  1. Review the full guidelines, funding details, and required documents via the official Hiroshima City website.
  2. Submit your application directly to the host institution.
  3. The FINAL decision is from the Hiroshima Peace Institute Selection Committee.

 

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
