Program Guru Bantu / Indonesia Teaching Assistant (ITA) di Australia

The Indonesian Teaching Assistant (ITA) Program is an educational cooperation program aimed at supporting Indonesian language learning in Australian schools and Universities through the placement of pre-service teachers and lecturers from Indonesia. The program also provides international teaching experience for pre-service teachers and lecturers and strengthens institutional partnerships between Australian schools and Universities, Indonesian universities, and the Indonesian Government’s representation in Australia. In certain schools, opportunities are also available for assisting in non-Indonesian language subjects.

Funding for the ITA Program is shared as follows:

  1. The Education and Culture Attaché (Atdikbud) provides accommodation for Teaching Assistants during the program. Those assigned in Canberra will stay at the Atdikbud Residence, while those assigned in other states may stay in school housing or with Indonesian language teachers.
  2. Universities and students cover passport fees, visa fees, round-trip airfare, health insurance, and living expenses in Australia (approximately AUD 800– 1,000 per month). https://eduattachecanberra.id/indonesian-teaching-assistant-ita/

 

Eligibility

  1. Active students or lecturers from Indonesian universities, preferably in their third year of undergraduate study or enrolled in postgraduate (Master’s or Doctoral) programs or Indonesian language lecturer.
  2. Having academic background of Indonesian language education, language education, or other relevant academic fields, and possess basic teaching competencies. In addition to academic qualifications, Teaching Assistants are expected to have cultural skills such as traditional dance, music, or other forms of Indonesian arts, which can enrich classroom activities.
  3. Required to demonstrate good proficiency in Indonesian and adequate proficiency in English to support effective communication in school and university settings. All Teaching Assistants must successfully pass the selection process conducted jointly by their universities and the program organisers.

  5. Motivation Letter
  6. Official Academic Transcript (legalized)
  7. Colored Copy of Passport
  8. English language proficiency certificate 
  9. Confirmation Letter of Participation (download)



Application Procedure

  1. Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than 28 February 2026 for internal review.
  2. OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to the Education and Cultural Attache at Canberra.
