Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) through Office of International Affairs is bringing its annual program, DREaM, again this November. This year DREaM is inviting UGM university colleague, Multimedia University (MMU), as the co-host for this event. The 13th DREaM International Student Short Program 2021 will deliver theme “Rethinking Borders: Dynamics in A Changing World”. However, as the pandemic is still happening, the program will be held virtually on November 2 – 28, 2021, twice a week on Tuesday and Friday. For this year DREaM Program gathers 12 professors from 5 universities as speakers and 64 participants from 20 universities and 14 countries.

On November 2nd, the 13th DREaM is officially opened by UGM Rector, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., IPU. On his welcoming speech Prof. Panut said that he is very honored to meet everyone in the opening of the program. He said that although the borders are stronger, yet we still can easily meet virtually, means we really need to rethink about definition of borders. Prof. Panut also sure that through 12 points of view from 12 speakers from around the globe, the participants will gain comprehensive understanding regarding borders issues. In addition, he thinks that borders are not always about excluding one from another but also about promoting interaction and collaboration. As the conclusion, Prof. Panut wished that 13th DREaM will not end there but can be the start of further collaboration with the university partners.

Meanwhile from MMU, MMU President and CEO, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud expressed his gratitude to UGM for the opportunity honored to be the first official co-host of DREaM program. He wished that from the collaboration between UGM and MMU through DREaM, in future both universities could expand the collaboration on the educational fields and gain fruitful benefits. DREaM also means that distance means nothing, since although UGM and MMU is thousand miles away, yet UGM and MMU could collaborate in this program. In conclusion, MMU sent their gratitude to Prof. Panut and UGM for inviting MMU to co-host DREaM program.

After the opening by the leaders of two universities, the program continued with presentations from 3 speakers from UGM, MMU and Diajeng Jogja 2018.
