Sophia University was founded in 1913, when three Jesuit priests arrived in Japan in response to a request from the Roman Pontiff at that time. Until now, Sophie University remained true to their educational ideal, Men and Women for Others, with Others, and strive to nurture people who are keen to use their abilities to help others and society in general. Eligibility
- 3rd to 6th-semester undergraduate students (S1)
- 3rd to 4th-semester graduate students (S2/S3)
- Be proficient in English (Min. 79 on TOEFL iBT, 550 on TOEFL PBT/ ITP, 6.0 on IELTS(Academic), 730 on TOEIC)
- Be proficient in Japanese if you are applying in Japanese-taught classes (Japanese-Language Proficiency Test N1 certificate)
- Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program

- Letter of Nomination from faculty (*addressed to Head of Office of International Affairs)
- Certificate of Enrollment from faculty
- Official academic transcript
- Study Plan
- Curriculum Vitae
- Colored copy of passport
- Passport-size photo (jpg format, length 4cm × width 3cm, white background)
- TOEFL / IELTS(Academic) / TOEIC official test report
(for ALL applicants from non-English-speaking institutions applying for English-taught program,(Min. Score of TOEFL – ITP=530, iBT 80 or IELTS 6.0) - JLPT official test report: N1 level certificate
(only for applicants applying for Japanese-taught program) - Certificate of health (form provided)
- Essay explaining motivation and academic background for GPGS courses
(only for applicants applying for the Graduate Program in Global Studies) - Application for Certificate of Eligibility (CoE)

Application Procedures
- Proceed to the Online Application process from the University’s website and the Application Package no later than October 15th, 2021 (Japan Time).
- After you submit the Online Application, submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication for the official nomination from UGM.
- The FINAL decision from Sophia University.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- The implementation/execution of this program will be carefully reconsidered depends on the latest development of COVID-19 and the government’s regulation
- In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
- In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
