Greeting From Japan!

Doshisha University is one of Japan’s oldest and most prestigious private universities, located in Kyoto, Japan. Founded in 1875 by Joseph Hardy Neesima, the university was established on the principles of Christian education and internationalism. Today, Doshisha offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs through its Office of International Students (OIS), covering fields such as humanities, social sciences, law, economics, business, global studies, science, engineering, psychology, and culture. With a strong commitment to academic excellence and global engagement, Doshisha University provides an enriching environment for students from around the world.

We are pleased to inform you that the application for the Exchange Program Spring 2027 at Doshisha University (OIS) is now open for Universitas Gadjah Mada students.

 

ELIGIBILITY

  • Undergraduate students (S1) or Graduate students (S2/S3)
  • Enrolled in Universitas Gadjah Mada during the program
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • Be proficient in English and/or Japanese

 

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  1. Official Academic Transcript
  2. Letter of Enrollment from Faculty
  3. Letter of Nomination from Faculty (addressed to the Head of Office of International Affairs UGM)
  4. Letter of Recommendation from the Academic Advisor
  5. Curriculum Vitae
  6. Colored Copy of Passport
  7. Confirmation Letter of Participation (download) 
  8. Passport Size Photo 
  9. Application for Exchange Program
    • Must be signed (bottom of page 3).
  10. Motivation Letter
  11. Proficiency in Japanese (if applicable)
  12. English Language Certificate
    • Required for all GEM applicants, including native English speakers.
    • Must be signed.
  13. Health Certificate
  14. JASSO Scholarship Application Form (if applying)
    • May be uploaded separately as an Excel file.

 

APPLICATION PROCEDURE

  1. Submit the aforementioned documents to UGM International Exposure Application Form: http://ugm.id/IntExposureApplication no later than 10 September 2026 for internal review.
  2. OIA staff will evaluate your application. Once you are selected as Nominated Applicants, OIA will confirm your official nomination to Doshisha University  and you may proceed to the online application.
  3. The FINAL decision is from Doshisha University

 

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • In the meantime, the students are required to keep the hard file of all documents until further notice by the Office of International Affairs.
  • In case the faculty could not provide the letter of enrollment and nomination during this period, the official nomination through email from the faculty is acceptable. The official nomination could be delivered to head-oia@ugm.ac.id (cc to scholarship@ugm.ac.id)
